Use a Power Resource Called Wind Power

Wind is a natural power resource which keeps circulating around earth all the time. Now, the biggest question is, “how is wind generated?” When sun rays fall on earth’s surface it heats up the earth’s surface which results in rise in temperature. Now, this kind of heating is not equal in all parts of the earth. It is unequal. There are parts of earth which are heated up to a large extent and because of this the air in such places become lighter and starts moving up. The gap between the earth’s surface and the warm air gets filled by the air which is heavy. This heavy air comes from the adjoining cooler places. This results in the origination of power known as wind power. (more…)

Factors Inspiring Wind Power Technology

As the world is today facing with the daunting task of saving fuel it has become imperative to make sure that fossil fuels are carved out before they are died out and more and more alternate or renewable energy has come into use. There are many disadvantages of using fossil fuels such as pollution it creates by emitting carbon and green house gases and more importantly as they are in the verge of depletion. With the help of new age technology and science people have found other sources of energy. One such energy is wind power energy. It is produced by using wind generators to tie together the kinetic energy of the wind. Although it is fast gaining popularity as a useful source of energy, it caters to only about 1% of the entire world energy consumption. It still has to travel a long distance before it catches up with solar energy. (more…)

Micro Wind Turbine: The Practical Wind Bearer

Nobody dislikes the wind. It is one of nature’s freebies that contain many benefits for our daily life. Unlike oil which serves a similar purpose (for the use of energy), extracting wind is just as easy as lifting your finger, because it is non-visible, odorless, and it is everywhere for the taking! Here are some examples how the wind benefits your life: drying clothes, helping you to cool your body temperature down, and moving wind turbine to produce electricity for household usage! (more…)

Wind Power Manufacturers of the World

Since a long time ago, ancient people had known the benefit of wind to help their life easier. In Babylonia and China, for instance, nearly 4000 years ago the inhabitants of two regions used the power of the wind to pump water for their crops. While in Europe in middle ages, people used wind power to grind grain for their food. In modern living, wind power is used for greater benefit. (more…)

Vertical Axis Wind Turbines – A Promising Alternative

You have seen a windmill in most typical Holland postcards. It looks similar to airplane propellers but instead of stirring the wind to create a powerful thrust to move the plane, it does the reverse. A typical wind turbine waits for the wind blow in order to work. So depending on the wind direction the propeller must turn to face the wind flow perpendicularly. Usually, a yaw or a flipper that looks like an airplane’s tail is used to guide the wind blades to face the wind. (more…)

What Makes a Wind Turbine Work

The kinetic energy that is present in the wind is converted into mechanical energy or electricity. Basically, wind energy is definitely renewable being free from pollution, fuel-free, it does not emit greenhouse gasses and free from toxic or radioactive waste.

Wind energy in the past was simply used to grind grain through the windmill. Today however, modern use include pumping water and generation of electricity run by present-day machines such as “wind pumps”, “wind turbine generators” or in more general terms called “wind turbines”. (more…)
